Ghostbusters: The Video Game Walkthrough

Part 3

By this time, you’ve learned the basics in busting ghosts and have captured a few. In today’s PS3 walkthrough for Ghostbusters: The Video Game, we focus on beating your first semi-important boss: the Fisherman Ghost. However, if you’re not careful, you’ll be sleeping with the fishes tonight.

If you don’t recall what happened last time, you’ve just caught Slimer in a hotel ballroom and have wrangled with a few bellhop ghosts in the lobby. There’s a good chance the lobby is a mess because of your proton blasts. The Ghostbusters assemble and chat with the pissed manager. During the chat, the Fisherman Ghost makes its appearance.

Solo Flight
Ray will then tell you to go with Egon and run after the angry Fisherman. As you follow Egon, a cutscene would be triggered, showing that you’re separated from your companion. Looks like you’ll be running after this ghost alone—for now.

Before going down the hallway, run up the staircase and retrieve the portrait of G.M. Sedgewick, a cursed artifact, by scanning it using your PKE meter.

Return to the hallway and follow where it leads. Upon reaching a certain point, you’ll run into a flood—you read right—a flood in the hallway. When you wake up, you’re back at the foot of the staircase but now, the whole floor seems to be flooded. Go through the same hallway once again.

Walk far enough and you’ll find a junction—don’t forget to bring out the PKE meter before taking the left turn. After a few meters in, you’ll run into the Fisherman Ghost. Scan the ghost and follow it as it goes through the opposite way. Remember the junction? This time, take the right turn.

Light My Fire
You’ll run into a dead end while Egon is speaking about Semi-Dimensional Rift Entities over the radio. At the same time, you’ll get something on your PKE meter. Follow the signal as it points you towards the candelabrum on the wall, which will spring into life when you scan it. It’s a Candelabrum Crawler, a ghost that shoots fire. Better hide the PKE meter and start zapping.

The Candelabrum Crawler is corporeal and dispersible, meaning you don’t need a ghost trap to get rid of it. All you have to do is point your crosshair at the crawler and fire. Don’t forget to sidestep when it shoots back.

After disposing of the crawler, get out of the dead-end room. You’ll encounter several Candelabrum Crawlers on the hallway. Keep your eyes peeled; these guys can crawl on the ceiling. Zap them all while sidestepping their fire attacks. Return to the junction and you’ll see a crawler running past the ceiling.

Follow the Candelabrum Crawler and you’ll eventually come across furniture blocking your way. Use the Capture Stream and get the stuff out of your way, then move along. At the end of a hall is an intersection—take the right turn and you’ll see a vending machine up ahead. Strangely, your PKE meter is flashing red and seems to be pointing at the vending machine.

Remember what red means? It’s a hidden ghost.

Approach the vending machine with the PKE meter out. When you get close, the machine bursts open, revealing the Fisherman Ghost inside. Yes, it’ll run off again, but your path is blocked by corals. As you turn around, you’ll encounter a couple of Candelabrum Crawlers. You know the drill: vaporize them.

When all the crawlers are gone, it’s time to backtrack. Go back down the hall, take the left and keep going. As you move through the transformed hotel hallways, you’ll run into more crawlers. Blast them, avoid their shots, and never forget to vent your pack.

The corals get even thicker further down the hall. When you reach a certain point, the Fisherman Ghost shows up at the end of the hallway and flees towards the left. Follow the Fisherman Ghost, remove the sofa blocking your way, go past the elevators, and into the huge dining area. This is where your faceoff begins.

Fisherman Ghost
If you’ve managed to scan the Fisherman Ghost, you’ll discover that it’s a Class III Roaming Animator. Meaning, it possesses non-living objects. The PKE meter says the Fisherman Ghost’s weakness is your regular proton stream, and that you ultimately have to trap the ghost. Beware of the ghost’s ranged attack—he throws his fishing line at you.

81 Ghostbusters: The Video Game Walkthrough

You’ll first fight the Fisherman Ghost by yourself. After reducing most of the ghost’s health, you’ll soon be joined by the rest of the Ghostbusters. After a bit of chatter, the Fisherman Ghost reappears for an encore, except that it’s now in another form called a Kitchen Golem. It’s actually just the Fisherman Ghost possessing a variety of kitchen objects.

9 Ghostbusters: The Video Game Walkthrough

You’ll notice that while the Kitchen Golem is more dangerous in this form, it still has a health bar. Blast the golem and keep dodging its attacks. You need to put some distance between the two of you so don’t hesitate to run when the thing gets near. When the Kitchen Golem’s health is reduced to zero, use the Capture Stream and wrangle its energy ball. With the energy ball exposed, the Fisherman Ghost would reveal itself. Blast the revealed ghost and use the Capture Beam.

Wrangle the Fisherman Ghost and slam it around a few times. If it escapes your Capture Beam, blast it again. This ghost is rather slippery so keep shooting at it. When the ghost is weakened, bring out the trap and reel it in. After the Fisherman Ghost’s capture, a cutscene will be triggered, bringing back old memories.

This ends today’s PS3 guide for Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Stay tuned for more tips and details! We’ll fight an old foe in the next guide. I’ll give you a clue: It’s big, it’s clean, it’s soft and white.

Well, the ESRB rating for Ghostbusters: The Video Game is T for Teen. That means your kid is still a bit too young for it.

There are a few scary parts in the game as well. However, there’s nothing incredibly gross or anything.
