Top Five Games I Want to See on Other Platforms

Admit it: you may be happy with your console choice right now, but somewhere in the back of your mind, you keep hoping that a game you thoroughly loved would end up in (insert console here). You know what? I think about the exact same thing, which is why I’ve put together a short list of games that I’m aching to see and play on other platforms.

A current-gen Monster Hunter could look this good.

A current-gen Monster Hunter could look this good.

Monster Hunter on the Xbox 360/PS3
This one’s a pretty easy choice. Monster Hunter 3 was originally planned for the PlayStation 3. Unfortunately, because of high development costs, Capcom decided to bring Monster Hunter 3 to the Wii instead. Obvious graphical improvements aside, I’m drooling for an Xbox 360/PS3 version of Monster Hunter because it would be even deeper than the PSP editions that we’ve been playing. Hopefully, an Xbox 360/PS3 version would have better controls.

Imagine one for the DS.

Imagine a Super Smash Bros. for the DS.

Super Smash Bros. on the DS
The closest thing to Super Smash Bros. on the DS is Jump Ultimate Stars, which as you know, never made it out of Japan. A Super Smash Bros. on the DS would be absolutely stupefying because a) it’s Super Smash Bros.; b) it’s portable; c) it has Wi-Fi. Forget the touchscreen controls for a Super Smash Bros. DS—your digits should stay on the buttons where they belong.

Admit it--the tech demo broke your heart.

Admit it--FFVII's PS3 tech demo broke your heart.

Final Fantasy VII on the Xbox 360/PS3
Remember Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII trailer for the PS3? Didn’t it just break your heart when you heard it was really just a tech demo?  No matter what other people might say about Final Fantasy VII, its stature can’t be understated: it’s one of those classics that influenced the games we play today. The idea of having a working HD version—a real game—is just out of this world.

When will the next Golden Sun arrive?

Would a Golden Sun HD be as good?

Golden Sun on the Xbox 360/PS3
When Golden Sun first came out, fans and critics alike were captivated by the RPG’s outstanding design and overall polish. Granted, it’s certainly easier to develop for a simpler platform like the GBA than the PS3 or Xbox 360, but if the same amount of care were to be applied on a current-gen version of Golden Sun, we’re looking at another marquee RPG for either HD console.

Gabriel Knight on the PS3/Xbox 360? We can dream, can't we?

Gabriel Knight on the Xbox 360/PS3
If you’re an old-school DOS gamer, then you’ve probably heard of Gabriel Knight, whose games are a perfectly balanced mix of fiction, history, storytelling, and character development. While adventure games have taken a backseat in recent years, well-crafted ones like Sam and Max or Dreamfall still manage to stand out. Imagine an updated Gabriel Knight on the Xbox 360/PS3 with updated gameplay similar to Indigo Prophecy, but in HD.

After reading through my list, it’s your turn: If you had a chance to choose five games you want to see on other gaming platforms, what would they be and why? Do share your picks with us at the comments section!

Totally agree on the monster hunter part, those games would like awesome in the next gen age and would would benefit from the online part.
I played golden sun on the advance and it was very good, but I doubt a next gen version would be a good idea. A remake of the original series on xbl ect sounds more appealing.
Gabriel Knight? Played through one of those games with a walkthrough, would certainly be a good thing for lovers of the adventure genre.

Well, I still want to see an HD version of Golden Sun on the PS3/Xbox 360. I know it’s a stretch, but one can dream, right? :D
