Why did Sony order more PS3 components?

ps3 price cut Why did Sony order more PS3 components?

Sony is up to something. DigiTimes recently revealed that the console maker “placed significant orders for key Sony PS3 components” from Taiwan-based IC distributors. In this case, “significant” equates to enough parts for producing a million PlayStation 3s for the third quarter.

According to the IC distributors, the recent orders are about double the average that Sony ordered during the second quarter. What does this mean? A couple of possibilities come to mind:

  • Sony is expecting to sell more PlayStation 3s later this year—much more than what it’s currently selling. This larger order for PS3 components could mean a price drop for Sony’s existing PS3 models.
  • This increase in orders could also mean that Sony is manufacturing a new PS3. You know, a PS3 Slim.

So which is it? This is a sign that Sony is making a PS3 Slim or is it going to be a price cut for the existing PS3 models? Start speculations NOW!

This article needs some serious work Mike. For one, it’s incredibly short. Too short to be called an article. It’s not bad in any way, it’s just somewhat pointless. You need to expand more on your theories. If you can call them theories that is… you basically stated the two most obvious conclusions to your own question (not to mention the only ones possible): (1) A price-drop due to cheaper components, or, (2) The PS3 slim is real.

Well… of course man! It doesn’t take a genius to figure that out. We already know that. We’ve known that forever. There couldn’t really be any other reason(s) than the ones you listed. For example, why do human beings reproduce? (1) Natural Instinct (it’s wired into our brain chemistry, aka survival as a species), or, (2) For pleasure or some sort of gain. It doesn’t matter which way you look at it, human reproductive motives always boil down to those two absolutes: Instinct/Survival or Pleasure/Gain. I understand if you think I’m overdoing this a little. It’s a gaming article right? True, but gaming is important to alot of people, and words are very powerful. I apologize if I sound as though I am slamming you… it is not my intention to do so. I’m just trying to help you fix some personal faults. We all have ‘em.

Remember: Don’t post generic content for the sake of website hits. The best gaming websites are creative, innovative, and original. Posting an article entitled “Xbox 360 vs. PlayStaton 3″ will get you a million hits, but such articles are incredibly generic. Reputation killers. Also, condtradicting yourself is a bad idea. Stick with one opinion, or remain unsure. First it’s “The PS3 Slim is Fake”, now your 50% sure it’s real? This is all constructive criticism Mikey boy. As for the website itself, keep up the good work. Once a gamer, always a gamer.

if they were creating a ps3 slim i doubt they would be using the same components as the ps3 is using now.
dident the 32nm cell just come out?
they wouldent put the 42nm in the slim if theres a smaller version available.
but price cut seems obvious and needed by now.
but meh how long have the ps3 price drop rumors been going on for now?
    8 months? more?
hell if sony do drop the price it will probably be just to shut the net up, about bloody time to im sick of reading 10 articles per day about bloody price drops and ps3 slim.
    GET OVER IT!
if it happens it happens you dont need to remind us 10 times per day.
